I am often asked about my most memorable or favorite case. With many attorneys they will tell you about the “6 figure” case or the one with  the most perceived notoriety .  With me the most memorable and most rewarding had nothing to do with monetary value.
Cases
Most Memorable:   My most memorable case is also the most haunting.  I represented a woman involved in a drunk-driving case.  She was with her husband and her young daughter when a drunk driver crossed the center line.  She survived; her family did not.  I assisted this woman in her legal battle.  I will never forget the way she was treated in a cold detached manner by the legal system.  The Washington State Patrol used the mangled remains of her family car to emphasize the dangers of drunk driving. Standing at the fair with my family, I was reminded just how much a case can affect an entire community not just the parties involved.  That case had a profound and lasting effect on me.
Most Rewarding:  When a father was reunited with his abducted children.  My client’s ex wife had abandoned the family.  Several years later she returned and took the children from school and took them to the mid-west.  I was able to have his children immediately returned and, at trial, we disproved all of the false accusations she made in an attempt to extort money from the father at the children’s expense.  The judge ruled my client was an “exemplary father” and he retained sole custody of his children.
Most Satisfaction:  I represented some shareholders in a corporate lawsuit.  The law states that individual shareholders are not responsible for acts of the corporation.  This is basic corporate law.  It did not however stop an attorney from pursuing a frivolous lawsuit. After months of an unnecessary and costly litigation, the attorney was found liable for filing and maintaining a frivolous lawsuit.  Although that ruling could not undo the time and anxiety my clients endured, the attorney was ordered to pay all attorney’s fees and costs.
